You know something needs to change. You just can't name what.
You know something needs to change.
Maybe you've known for a while. But every time you try to name it, it comes out sounding like a tactics problem or a people problem or a communication problem when really it's all three and none of them at the same time.
So you keep moving. You keep leading. You keep showing up while quietly carrying something you can't quite articulate.
That's usually when someone finds me.
Not because they searched for a specific service. Because they hit a moment where they needed someone who could walk into the complexity of what they're building, see it clearly, and help them move without needing six months to get up to speed.
I've been introduced as a medical provider, entrepreneur, executive coach, a consultant, a Chief of Staff, a strategist, and once, memorably, as "the person who fixes things."
None of those are wrong. None of them are complete.
What I do lives in the space between human behavior and business operations. And the leaders who find me, whether they're a founder, CEO, or senior executive, are usually dealing with one of five things.
You have a decision in front of you that feels bigger than your usual calls.
You have the information. You've thought about it from every angle. But something keeps you from pulling the trigger and you're not sure if that's wisdom or fear or both.
I sit in that room and help you see what the data is saying, what your instincts are telling you, and what might be clouding the view.
Your team is working hard but not thinking at the level the business now requires.
The gap between how you think and how they think got wider somewhere along the way. A CMO waiting for direction instead of driving the narrative. A CFO reporting numbers nobody is acting on. Decisions that should be made without you keep coming back to you.
I work with leadership teams on how to think strategically, communicate clearly, and hold each other accountable without it becoming personal.
You keep solving the same problem and it keeps coming back.
Something is off and everyone feels it but nobody can name it. The culture feels heavier. Momentum feels forced.
Usually the presenting problem isn't the real problem. The real one is hiding underneath, in a conversation nobody has had or a decision nobody has made. I find those. And we address them.
Something big is coming and you're not ready for the human side of it.
An exit. A succession. A restructure. A generational handoff. Whether you're a founder preparing to sell, a CFO navigating major change, or a CMO stepping into broader leadership, the operational plan only gets you so far.
I've sat with founders who sold for tens of millions and ended up miserable because nobody helped them prepare for who they'd be after the exit. I work with leaders now to make sure the next chapter is one they actually want to live in.
You need someone who thinks like you, can run the room when you're not there, and doesn't need six months to figure out what's going on.
You're stretched across every function. Nobody on your team is quite at the level where you can hand something off completely and trust it will be handled the way you would handle it.
That's what I do as an embedded fractional Chief of Staff. Not advising from the outside. In the meetings, in the decisions, in the hard conversations, acting as a senior thought partner until the team is ready to carry it forward without me.
What This Actually Requires
People assume that because my work involves emotional intelligence and human behavior, it must be soft.
It's not.
To help you see the forest for the trees, we need infrastructure. Processes. Communication systems. Measurable benchmarks.
I am not a therapist. I am not solely an executive coach. I am not a COO.
But I am the one who tells the truth… the human side and the operational side don't get to live separately. One without the other only solves half the problem.
I'm very excited to share that I am building a team of powerhouse players to help propel my clients further and faster. Fractional COOs for scaling companies and medical practices. A fractional CEO with deep consulting experience. A compliance expert. CFOs to build data that tells the real story and CMOs who know how to drive real growth. What I bring stays the same. What will be expanding is my capacity to go deeper and move my clients faster for the leaders who are ready for complete C-suite team without the impact of a full time leadership team.
If any of those five felt familiar, you are not alone. The leaders who find me usually say the same thing afterward: "I didn't know this kind of support existed." Now you do.
As always, I am cheering for you from the Maine coast,
Kasey
